Support for carers in Surrey was top of the agenda at a successful event held last week in Redhill by Reigate Archdeaconry*. But the big challenge for support groups is that a lot of people who could benefit don’t actually identify as carers.
Andrea Dunhill, CARBS Chief Executive, was impressed by the organisations and parishioners at the event:
“Their commitment was great to see and shows the strength of our local communities. At Citizens Advice we help in various ways. Naturally we refer clients who gain enormously from being in touch with the right people. But we also raise awareness of what’s available and the brilliant work of providers who are often charities and voluntary groups like ourselves.”
Everyone remarked on the energy at the event and the constructive ideas coming forward.
Chris Elliott, Lay Chair Reigate Deanery, said:
“It was wonderful to see church people, clergy and lay, interacting with those from the secular world seeking to achieve a better world for our carers.”
