It’s great news surgeries and vaccination centres are inviting more and more of us to make an appointment. But scammers are cashing in on hopes we can soon be free of the virus.
Making contact by phone, email and text, fraudsters are asking for bank details in return for a Covid-19 vaccine.
Dr Sally Johnson, clinical lead for Surrey Heartlands, says: “We will never ask for financial details in relation to the Covid-19 vaccination. The vaccination is free and is only provided on the NHS”.
No one should ever receive a call about coronavirus from someone they don’t know. If you get a cold call of this kind, please phone Trading Standards on 0300 123 2329 or even 999 if you feel threatened.
We strongly recommend checking that any invitation is authentic. Also it’s important to report suspected scams so they can be investigated:
🙁 Ask you for money for a vaccine.
🙁 Ask for your bank details.
🙁 Ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of official documents such as passports.
Please protect yourself using this information and pass on to people who might be vulnerable to vaccination fraud.
