CARBS District Manager Elaine Parr was among a group of Job Centre stakeholders at today’s launch of full-service Universal Credit here.
The meeting was addressed by Department of Work and Pensions Permanent Secretary Peter Schofield. He explained the government’s commitment to the benefit and the confidence of his colleagues that it would work well for claimants and taxpayers.
Key to the success of UC are the Job Centre ‘work coaches’. They support claimants from the start of their benefit journey into work if that is their appropriate destination. Our picture shows one of the coaches describing her role (and upbeat message).
Elaine Parr said:
“It was a positive meeting. We expect to be helping a growing number of clients from now on. Citizens Advice has undertaken to provide a focused advice service for those who need help in sorting out their eligibility and applying online.”
