No doubt Voluntary Action Reigate & Banstead had these sad numbers in mind at their social isolation network meeting in Banstead on 28 November.
The aim was to find ways of reducing social isolation by encouraging involvement in community activities and providing access to transport.
Citizens Advice Reigate & Banstead community links volunteer Helen said:
“It was really useful to meet other local organisations and learn about the different services available. Too many of the people we see have problems that are made worse by isolation.
“Access to transport to hospital or a GP is obviously important but other services such as IT support can help enormously.”
The VARB network meeting focused on community centre services, transport for older people, and sources of project funding.
