If you’re threatened with homelessness you must be constantly available. With the clock ticking it can be hard to sort out the rights of all parties. Even a short time “off the air” can be fatal.
Recently we’ve seen several people risk losing their homes because they were out of contact at a key moment.
Homelessness might be an extreme risk of not having a working handset. But not the only one. Employers, medical and government services all expect to be able to contact us at very short notice.
Good news then that Citizens Advice is launching a campaign for fairer debt collection by mobile phone networks.
Outstanding debt is only one reason for this kind of lost contact. But if the campaign achieves its aims “to secure fairer debt collection practices across the market and improve communication between providers and debt advisors” we’re sure it will reduce the problem.
