In May 2019 we reopened our drop-in service at Merstham after several years’ absence. We had high hopes of making a significant contribution.
Already that seems just what happens each week on Mondays and Fridays.
CARBS Supervisor and Merstham Coordinator, Brian Fissenden, says:
“On average we’re seeing over 50 people a month. The most frequent issues concern housing and benefits. In some cases we give the client the help or information they need and they take the next step. With others, especially if the person is vulnerable (see How We Helped) we can be more involved.”
It’s great that our sessions take place at Merstham Hub.
This bright, modern public space hosts community activities of all kinds*. It’s home to the excellent Merstham Mix Café and Merstham Library. The Library is a natural partner for us. We really value their help with our information campaigns such as Scams Awareness and Energy Saving Week.
Last May CARBS CEO Andrea said our return to Merstham was “an exciting step forward in helping us offer advice as conveniently as possible to everyone in Reigate & Banstead”. She wasn’t wrong!
