Our volunteer advisers are always learning* how to help clients. At a Banstead office training session in November the topic was scams.
Spotting them, avoiding them, reporting them**.
And who better to take us through the commonest kinds of fraud than Clare Oldfield, the Surrey member of the community banking team at Nat West? Her team exists “to bring the bank to customers” where it’s most convenient, whether libraries, at work, clubs or even at home.
Clare was naturally keen to explain the dangers of financial scams but also covered fraud crime in other sectors and how anyone can be caught out.
Thanks so much for your help, Clare. We also support providing essential services together at local centres – often now called ‘community hubs’!
* CARBS Training Commitment: To ensure all volunteer advisers enhance their skills and knowledge; know how to give advice effectively; and feel confident to help clients solve problems and lead happier lives.
