Immigration is among the most complex and fast-changing issues facing citizen advisers.
At CARBS we regularly help clients with a range of problems that includes: visas, Home Office delays, replacement documents, entering or staying in the UK, becoming a British citizen.
As a supplement to our own Citizens Advice online advice* we have found the Free Movement website** a useful source of updates, commentary and advice on immigration and asylum law.
The site makes clear information available to anyone affected by immigration control: migrants, their families, advisers, lawyers and judges.
Clarity is key. Immigration law is notoriously complex, changes rapidly and is at the heart of the Brexit debate.
Free Movement posts daily informed comments on immigration matters with links to new government documents. A weekly email listing topical blogs is free on subscription. They produce e-books, some of which can be downloaded free.
There’s also a chargeable membership scheme which allows participation in a group discussion forum, access to searchable archives and online short courses which lead to CPD points for OISC*** advisers.
