This important government bill had its second reading in the House of Commons on 2 November. It’s now in committee for detailed scrutiny.
Citizens Advice is pleased that a lot of its ideas for improving the position of tenants in the private rented sector have been accepted by ministers and appear in the bill.
Good news, BUT in many aspects the bill still doesn’t go far enough as you can see from our 5-page briefing.
Private renters are one of the few consumer groups who currently are not entitled to a refund for the poor quality service they have to buy. The bill is a success for our Safe and Settled campaign but there’s more to do. Tell your friends and contacts.
