Hunger is a growing problem in Britain. Among the causes are family debt and delayed payment of benefits.
These are just two findings in a report published today by a group of MPs and peers. As well as analysing the extent and causes of hunger the authors make detailed recommendations on how to tackle the problem.
Debt and benefits are consistently the most common issues worrying Citizens Advice clients. Despite the recovery and growing employment, the number needing emergency help to buy food for themselves or dependents shows no sign of falling.
By providing free advice on money worries and the benefit system Citizens Advice is helping with a problem that really has no place in 21st Century Britain.
