Volunteers, trustees and staff joined together last week to wish our District Manager Elaine Parr a long and happy retirement.
On behalf of thousands of clients and the whole community, the team thanked Elaine for her support and leadership over 15 years in charge.
Elaine won respect and friendship across the local voluntary and social service sectors. She was known for her commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable clients. And her work with volunteers to help individuals sort out their problems was matched by a deep interest in research and campaigns for reform of policy shown to be harming individuals and families.
News of Elaine’s retirement was received with many warm comments. Former Councillor Julian Ellacott was typical: “Thanks Elaine for all you have done for local residents over those 15 years – it was a pleasure working with you – always (on your side at least!) with a cheerful smile. Enjoy your well deserved retirement!”
