Listen to your instincts.
This month Citizens Advice Reigate & Banstead is working with the CAB network and Trading Standards to help people protect themselves against scams.
Everyday fraudsters are persuading people to hand over personal or financial information, or spend hundreds or even thousands of pounds seeking jobs, homes, holidays and investments that never materialise.
So the motto of Scams Awareness Month 2016 might be “Listen to your instincts”.
If something seems too good to be true it almost certainly is. National Citizens Advice Campaigns Officer Adrian Galvin* says “In listening mode we start asking questions: why me? Why now? Who is this really? What if?”
Find out here about the different kinds of scams, how the fraudsters work and what to do if you suspect something.
