CARBS volunteers and staff received an unexpected BH boost yesterday. Supervisor Helen shared news of a much valued old friend.
The Banstead Office Peace Lily was alive and well in Helen’s hall at home.
Arriving last summer, the present from a lovely client became an instant favourite. It soon repaid the love and verbal encouragement (strangely no one claimed credit) by bursting into bloom.
Unfortunately the exuberance was short-lived.
The dark days of winter saw Peace ailing and upstaged by newer office ornaments. Advice Services Manager Mandy says “at times it was definitely touch and go”. Then lockdown! Oh dear. In the rush to vacate and regroup for phone and online advice the plant was scooped up by Helen and…er…all but forgotten by everyone else.
So imagine the What’s App joy yesterday!
Marie: “The beacon of Banstead looks lovely”. Jenny: “Amazing. Definitely found the place to thrive”. Anthea: “It’s flowering!!” Sarah: “Wow. Looks like a different plant”.
CEO Andrea saw a deeper meaning in the re-emergence in such fine form. “The general happiness at the plant’s well-being matches our team well-being and new growth of our service.”
