Healthwatch Surrey has released an upbeat review of its work for patients and the service in the year to March 2019.
The NHS watchdog reports strong growth in key activities:
Highlights in a report packed with informative case studies are: experiences of getting a GP appointment; long hospital waiting lists; positive attitudes at hospitals and GP surgeries; and good standard medical care in hospitals.
HWS Chair, Peter Gordon, who steps down this year, summarised the organisation’s achievements:
“It has been an exciting and rewarding journey, which has taken Healthwatch Surrey from a ‘blank sheet’ in 2013 to its present independent, established, effective and increasingly respected position.”
Looking to the future, Kate Scribbins, Chief Executive said:
“We are planning to do even more in the year ahead, with a particular focus on those who are less well heard and at risk of poor health outcomes.”
