If someone’s heart has stopped beating you have just a few minutes to give them a chance.
“It’s the golden moment”, says Paula Richardson from St John Ambulance.
Paula was showing a well-attended Redhill Library Coffee Morning how to give CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) and use a defibrillator.
And Paula created a golden moment of her own among the library shelves.
The whole group watched with rapt attention as she ‘resuscitated’ her model and operated the defibrillator (pictured).
There was lots of discussion. Some told of relevant occasions they had witnessed or been part of. Others said how much they appreciated the clear instruction.
In fact it was just the kind of thing public libraries do so well: bringing people together, spreading knowledge, strengthening the community.
At CARBS we're delighted to help promote the Library's coffee mornings on the first Wednesday of each month. We're natural partners working for a happier and more informed local community.
