6.5 million people in the UK are carers. People who provide unpaid care to a family member or friend with a disability or illness, a drug problem, or who needs extra help as they grow older.
Their contribution to families and the community is huge but not fully recognised.
One consequence is people don’t see themselves as carers and miss out on support they deserve and could make a real difference to their lives.
Carers Week 2019 aims to improve this.
Across the county local organisations are planning events and activities for week beginning Monday 10 June.
In Reigate & Banstead, East Surrey Carers Support Association holds a Carers Week Extravaganza in the Village Hall, Bletchingley on Wednesday 12 June at 2.00 pm. Also, look out for Action for Carers Information Stand at East Surrey Hospital (East Entrance) for the whole week, 10-14 June.
