Early advice confirmed.
Citizens Advice Reigate & Banstead confirms advice issued after the referendum:
The vote to leave the EU doesn’t mean immediate changes to consumer rights, employment law or rules around immigration.
Analysis of national Citizens Advice* website and social media since the referendum reveals around half a million Brexit enquiries mainly about immigration, citizenship and which laws will change.
Citizens Advice Reigate and Banstead has also received many enquiries about how Brexit will affect people’s employment and housing.
Elaine Parr, District Manager, said:
“We’re encouraging anyone who is unsure about their rights or may have experienced discrimination to seek advice.
“People have lots of questions about how the ‘Leave’ vote will affect their lives. For some, it’s something as big as which country they can call home. For others, it’s about rights at work or personal finances.
“Everyone should remember that for the time being all rights remain the same. It’s reasonable to expect the government to legislate in light of leaving the EU but it will be some time before that happens.”
