“A new one-stop service for young people requiring mental health support.”
That was the message from Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust at this week’s well-attended briefing about youth mental health in Black and Ethnic Minority Communities.
Dr Phil Ferrira-Lay explained how the service would help tackle youth mental health, a major issue for BAME Communities which often goes undiagnosed.
Citizens Advice Reigate and Banstead and Mole Valley attended the event with CA Healthwatch champion Janet Rimmer.
CARB chief executive Elaine Parr said:
“We were really pleased to be part of this important event. Mental health issues are often made worse by other problems. Our trained advisers can make a big contribution in the community team.”
Also speaking: Koleena Stewart of the Freeway Union and Danielle Wilkinson, Youth Adviser at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
